At 91 years old, Robert Hardy, known for his roles in BBC series All Creatures Great And Small and the Harry Potter movies passed today.
Hardy’s career included many accomplishments over the span of more than 70 years. Most well known to British Audiences for his role as veterinarian Siegfried Farnon in BBC series All Creatures Great And Small, he also played an assortment of Churchill roles. He’s perhaps most well known to American audiences for his role as Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge in Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets. A role he reprised for three other films in the franchise.
Hardy’s family released a statement today saying, “Gruff, elegant, twinkly, and always dignified, he is celebrated by all who knew him and loved him, and everyone who enjoyed his work.” The loss of Hardy will be felt by all audiences, and he will be sorely missed. In fact, we might just need to commemorate him by watching the entire Harry Potter series this weekend.
