Last night at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Disney unveiled the fifth installment of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, and good news is that most people thought the film looked very promising. The fifth film, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will show the return of many of our favorite actors including Johnny Depp as our beloved Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. Along with these old timers, they’re introducing a new young cast including Brenton Thwaites as Henry, Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, and Javier Bardem who provides a worthy villain, Captain Salazar, to our swashbuckling pirates.
The official synopsis for the new movie is as follows:
The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar, escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea — notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth, a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry, a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitiful small and shabby ship, Captain jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.
Although reviews are not officially released until May 22, so far they are very positive. Many are saying things about how great the movie is going to be, and that both Depp & Bardem have great performances. Most stated that they forgot how much they love Jack Sparrow. We can’t wait to see our favorite magnificently quirky pirate back at it again this May.
The movie will be released May 26 this year, so mark your calendars now! Check out the trailers below.
