Netflix’s “Death Note” is For Everyone

Whether you are and anime fan or not,¬†Death Note is for everyone to enjoy. Why, you may ask? Well its actually fairly simple — the story itself, whether in cartoon with Japanese dialogue or not is phenomenal. I should know, I’ve only soaking it up for the past month or so. Therefore, I can promise you folks a storyline full of twists and turns that I promise you will not be expecting.

Last weekend, at SDCC, a few lucky fans and press members got to preview¬†Death Note, and it seems as though the movie is better than expected. Many anime and manga fans were skeptical to say the least when the live-action adaptation was announced. However, due to it being an adaptation the movie does not stick to each and every core plot point seen in the anime TV show. Many are reporting it to be a great adaptation and having the ability to stand on it’s own next to the TV show.

Death Note is a story about Light, a bright student who stumbles across a mystical notebook that has the power to kill any person whose name he writes in it. Light decides to launch a secret crusade to rid the streets of criminals. Soon, the student-turned-vigilante finds himself pursued by a famous detective known only by the alias L.

If you are interested in seeing the original, I encourage you to take the time to watch the anime TV show first — it is available on Netflix. In the meantime while you wait for the release on August 25, check out the trailer for the live-action adaptation below.
