Needless to say, the name Scorsese is an iconic name. Martin Scorsese is an American director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and film historian. He is known for his hand in the making of countless movies including The Departed, Goodfellas, Shutter Island, Wolf of Wall Street… the list could go on. As well as in movies, he’s also experienced huge successes with TV shows such as Boardwalk Empire. Now, Hollywood is gearing up for one of his passion projects.
Silence is Scorsese’s latest film, set to debut January 6 — mark your calendars! The movie is said to fuse together two of his passions in life: god and cinema. It has been in the making in his mind, in the making, for three decades now. Adapted from the 1966 novel “silence” written by Shusaku Endo. Set in the 17th century, the movie stars Andrew Garfield and Adam Driver who play two Portuguese Jesuit priests. Father Rodrigues (Garfield) and Father Garrpe (Driver) travel together to Japan to find their fellow Father Ferreira (Liam Neeson) who is rumored to have forsaken his faith. This was a tumultuous time, and Christianity was only practiced throughout Japan in secret. However, driven by their faith, the two priests are compelled to complete their mission and travel throughout the country in secrecy. Take a look at the trailer below:
