There aren’t too many Rated “R” superhero films out there, but 20th Century Fox may just be starting a new tradition. In 2016 Fox’s first Rated R superhero film ‘Deadpool‘ was a massive success bringing in $800 million worldwide and now X-Men’s ‘Logan‘ success rate may be following in Deadpool’s footsteps. Over the weekend, Logan brought in $33 million on Friday, ended the weekend with a solid $85.3 million and $152 million worldwide.
Logan, takes place In 2024 where mutant births are severely in decline, and people aren’t sure why. A government-type operation is turning mutant children into killing machines. From this, Logan emerges as a mentor to a mutant girl, who has two claws instead of his three.
Why is this movie such a huge opening box office success? Well there are many factors considering that Logan is apart of the Wolverine Trilogy, also apart of the hugely successful X-Men superhero films. Wolverine’s character is so complex, but yet so inviting grabbing and keeping the attention of X-Men fans. Ever since fans were introduced to Wolverine’s (Hugh Jackman) world of love and war people just can’t get enough. Jackman’s final performance as Rated ‘R’ Wolverine pushes past boundaries that other PG-13 superhero films have not explored.
