The actor who gained all of our hearts as the infamous Sherlock Holmes, is returning back to TV. Benedict Cumberbatch will start in the new Showtime show about called Melrose. The show will be based on the series of semi-autobiographical novels about Patrick Melrose written by Edward St. Aubryn.
Patrick Melrose is “an aristocratic and outrageously funny playboy”, and the show will follow him throughout his life. He is a damaged child who grew up with an abusive father and a mother who condoned this behavior. This environment leads to him turning to substance abuse in an effort to forget his disturbing childhood memories.
Melrose is going to be a five-part series. Each episode will be based on a different book, and take place over a few intense days in Melrose’s life at that time. No premiere date has been set yet, but they will begin shooting the show throughout Britain, France and New York in August. We all know Cumberbatch know’s how to do “intense” from his previous roles, so we can’t wait to see his performance!
