Disney’s ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ may have just put a spell on millions, captivating viewers of all ages around the world. Ok, it didn’t quite cast a literal fairytale spell on us, but the beauty of the movie and its musical yet romantic qualities conjured up many emotions from viewers. This film will bring you smiles, tears, joy and also send you into deep reflection about the world around you. As the most popular PG box office open, Beauty and the Beast brought in a whopping 64 million on Friday becoming Disney’s fifth-biggest debut weekend of all time. By the end of the weekend the musical romance brought in $170 million in domestically and $180 million globally.
The film is A live-action adaptation of Disney’s version of the 1991 classic ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ tale of a cursed prince and a beautiful young woman (Belle) who helps him break the spell. In the live-adaption Emma Watson stars as Belle as she helps the Beast (Dan Stevens) break free from the curse that haunts himself and his kingdom of talking household items. The live-adaption qualities of Beauty and the Beast didn’t come cheap, costing production around $160 million. The income from the film and Beauty and the Beast merchandise are already sure to surpass the production cost.
Disney has not been shy about their upcoming live-adaption movies, maybe because of the massive success they bring? There are remakes of “Dumbo” and “Mulan” are already in the works to become the newest live-adaption tales.
